Why You Should Drink Water With Honey, Lemon and Apple Cider Vinegar in the Morning….with a Turmeric Shot Chaser!

 

The very first thing I do every morning before I go anywhere near my journal is put the kettle on…but I’m not about to brew up a lovely cup of builders tea, no, I’m creating what could legitimately be called a magic potion, that is warm water with manuka honey, juice and apple cider vinegar finished off with a turmeric shot.

 

Let me tell you why and you’ll be down the shops in a flash….

Drinking water, with or without lemon juice or honey, rehydrates you and gets your body and mind going again.   The temperature is important though, warm water helps flush out your digestive system and rehydrates your system so you feel energised and focussed.

First thing in the morning mix the following together

 

  1. 1 mug of warm water – slightly off the boil
  2. The juice of half a large lemon.
  3. A teaspoon of Manuka Honey. It must have a UMF rating of 10+ to give you any of the benefits I’ve spoken about.
  4. A tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar. Preferably organic with The Mother. (this just means it contains the most beneficial bacterial culture)

 

Sip slowly on an empty stomach.

 

Then if you want to supercharge your morning have a Turmeric Shot!

 

Why?

 

Because turmeric is one of the most powerful blood cleansing spices on the planet and it has been used for thousands of years for medicinal purposes but here in the West we are only just catching up.

 

It’s an anti-inflammatory super food that is also an antibacterial and antiseptic and has the power to fight diseases such as cancer, arthritis, heart disease and all sort of stomach and digestive conditions.

Here’s a recipe to help you enjoy these benefits too:

 

1 teaspoon of powdered turmeric

Mix with hot water

Add a touch of Manuka honey if preferred

 

Drink quickly!

 

 

I mix the powder with enough hot water to make a loose paste in an espresso cup. Then I top it up with cold water and drink it down in one. It has a very earthy taste but I’m now used to it. If you find it too horrible build up from a smaller quantity and add a little touch of Manuka honey to make it more palatable. It is worth the effort!
